Real Madrid visited Inter Milan for the second consecutive season in the Champions League and managed to come out with another victory at the San Siro.
The first half saw Inter Milan squander several great chances to go ahead. Simeone Inzaghi’s men took the game to the Spanish giants in the opening 45 minutes. Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko had several chances to put the home team ahead, but they weren’t clinical enough to find the back of the net.
Thibaut Courtois was tested several times throughout the game, but the Belgian managed to deny the Inter players every time he was called into action.
Eder Militao of Real Madrid also had a free header to put Madrid ahead in the first half, but his effort went wide as well. Rodrygo was brought on for Lucas Vasquez at the hour mark, and Eduardo Camavinga made his Champions League debut for Real Madrid as a substitute for Luka Modric in the 80th minute.
The French midfielder ultimately set up the winning assist for Rodrygo in the final stages of the game. The Brazilian was supplied with a ball to the middle, and although the finishing wasn’t perfect, it was enough to beat Samir Handanovic and get all three points for Los Blancos on the night.
Camavinga has taken no time to get adjusted to life at Real Madrid, and has already provided two goal contributions in his first two appearances for the club. With the standards he is setting for himself, Camavinga is in prime position to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the world in the years to come.
