Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami will not be facing Barcelona in the summer of 2024, as part of the Spanish side’s pre-season tour of the USA. The MLS club has turned down the potential friendly match due to their packed fixture schedule at the time, which will also include the Leagues Cup, a title they will try to defend after winning it this past year.Â
Miami themselves have a number of eye-catching friendly matches to prepare for in the coming month. They will be facing Vissel Kobe, Al Hilal and a battle against his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo as they take on Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.Â
Inter Miami reject Barcelona friendly offer due to packed scheduleÂ
David Beckham’s side have been quite active in recruiting former Barcelona players this past season. The Argentine left Barcelona in 2021 after a contract issue, which made it impossible to register him while complying with LaLiga financial rules. He has since spent two years in Paris before making the move to the USA last year.
There was a chance for Messi to return to Barcelona after his spell with PSG too, but it didn’t quite work out and he chose to move away from the spotlight and pressure of European football to try a new experience.
