Inter Miami, David Beckham’s Major League Soccer franchise, appears to be ratcheting up their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Luis Suarez. Suarez, who has struggled this season after helping Atleti win LaLiga Santander in 2020/21, could be enticed by a change of scenery after missing out on the playoffs last season.

Bringing Suarez to MLS

Due to the departure of Blaise Matuidi, a Designated Player place on Miami’s squad has opened up, which Suarez might fill. The team’s other DP is Gonzalo Higuain, although there has been speculation that he may retire soon, tripling Miami’s drive to improve its offense.

Suarez is interested in Beckham’s offer to play in the United States, according to Pedro Bravo of El Chiringuito, although there are other clubs interested in him, including Aston Villa and an Asian club.

The 34-year-old striker, on the other hand, may want to wait until the end of the Spanish season before planning. The MLS season starts in late February, so if Inter Miami wants to keep that option, they’ll have to start the season without filling their DP slots, which could depend on how confident they are in their ability to persuade Suarez.

About the Bid to Sign Up Suarez

Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, is reportedly stepping up their ambitious bid to sign Luis Suarez. According to The Sun, the MLS side has dismissed former Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi to make room for another high-profile acquisition.

Inter Miami are allowed three Designated Players on top of their modest wage bill. Suarez is out of contract at Atletico Madrid at the end of this season, and renewal is unlikely according to Corriere dello Sport via Diario AS. According to the report, the Uruguayan is considering a move to the MLS to finish his career.
