Intel has taken a deliberate approach to unveiling their upcoming desktop and mobile CPUs, choosing subtlety over grand announcements by dropping hints and confirmations on their social media platforms, all the while avoiding delving into extensive details.
Notably, Intel has already rolled out its 14th Gen Core-S 125W desktop CPUs, but it’s widely recognized that the company is gearing up to introduce 65W models in the near future, and CES 2024 seems to be the likely platform for such announcements, as per their customary practice.
The Upcoming Intel 14th Gen Core-HX
During a special event held in Asia, Intel officially confirmed the existence of both the 65W desktop models and the upcoming Core-HX series tailored for laptops. This development underscores Intel’s preparations to offer a comprehensive desktop lineup for the 14th Gen Core series and to revamp the 55W laptop segment, with a particular focus on high-end gaming laptops.
Furthermore, Intel has revealed its intentions to provide special editions tailored for the Chinese market. With each LGA1700 series launch, these models, such as the i5-13490F or i7-13790F, incorporate components from higher-end variants, featuring larger caches and higher clock speeds compared to the global lineup. It’s important to note, however, that these specialized components won’t be available in all regions.
Intel has now formally outlined its plans for the final 14th Gen Core CPUs, marking the conclusion of this older naming convention. The company is shifting its focus towards Core Ultra and non-Ultra models, eliminating the traditional “i” designation.
Looking ahead, Intel has scheduled a special event for December 14th to introduce the Intel Core 100 series, based on Meteor Lake, and the 5th Gen Xeon Scalable “Emerald Rapids.” It remains uncertain whether the remaining 14th Gen series will be included in this event or introduced in the following year, adhering to their customary release schedule.
