Intel’s other Alder Lake-S CPUs get benchmarked

via Videocardz

Intel’s processors have been making quite frequent appearances on the Geekbench this month. Recently yet another Alder Lake-S processor has been benchmarked on the website. Let us make it clear that all the benchmarks have been made using hybrid configurations and are based on Intel’s Lakefield architecture with 3D Foveros packaging.

The CPU benchmarked has eight-core and sixteen threads. According to sources, this Alder Lake-S processor should have eight Golden Cove cores based on a 10 nm process. Meaning it has only Big cores and not big.LITTLE Alder Lake-S configurations that we have seen on Geekbench and other benchmarking websites.

According to Geekbench, Intel has built Alder Lake-S on its LGA 1700 socket and has included support for DDR5 RAM. For now, the Clock speeds are somewhat irrelevant, a 2.99 GHz base speed doesn’t reveal the actual capacity of the processor on engineering samples. Videocardz claims that the processor in question does not bottleneck the GeForce RTX 2080.

The blue team will be releasing its Alder Lake-S platform in Q4 2021, so we would expect to see Qualification Sample (QS)processors leak sometime during the summer or the autumn. Intel is trying hard to get the best single-threaded performance from its processors as a direct competition to its rival AMD. Currently, the Red team dominates the multi-threaded performance segment, so Intel’s strategy seems reasonable. Intel is expected to market Alder Lake-S as the 12 Gen Core-S series, which would follow on from the company’s March-bound Rocket Lake-S processors.
