Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs start receiving Linux patches

Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs will be launched somewhere around 2023-2024, and the next-generation chips are said to be a major step in intel’s development. In recent news, the Intel Lunar Lake CPUs have received their first support in Linux patches. This suggests that team blue has already started the initial development of its next-generation chips.

The support page was spotted by Coelacanth’s Dream (via Osuosi / Videocardz). According to the gathered information, the patch adds support for Intel Lunar Lake CPUs on the Ethernet e1000e network driver (Gigabyte NIC for Linux and Virtual Systems). The Lunar Lake is listed as a next-gen Client Platform, confirming the launch of the chip for both desktop and mobility segments.

As we know, Intel’s Lunar Lake CPU family will replace Meteor Lake around 2023-2024.

It is also reported that Meteor Lake might get shelved for desktops and replaced by the upcoming Raptor Lake. We also hear rumours that Raptor Lake will be using the 7nm Ocean Cove cores.

Intel’s Lunar Lake family, as mentioned above will be launched somewhere around 2023-2024 and is expected to be categorized as 14th generation from Intel. but the news is still not confirmed and this might change up differently.

Lunar Lake is listed with Gen 12.9 graphics. So, instead of the upcoming Gen 13, we will get an updated architecture of Gen 12. Alder Lake Desktop CPUs are listed with 12.2 & Meteor Lake is the latest with 12.722 Generation codenames.

Currently, we don’t have much information about Intel’s Lunar Lake family. So, stay tuned, we will keep you posted.
