Intel’s Arc Battlemage Gaming GPUs to Launch in December 2024

Intel’s upcoming Arc Battlemage “Xe2” discrete GPUs will be arriving in December, months ahead of the much-anticipated launches from NVIDIA and AMD. Previous rumors mentioned a November release likely around Black Friday, but data miner Tomasz Gawroński now says Intel is eyeing a December launch. This update comes from what appears to be an official teaser from Intel, signaling that the timeline has shifted.

Intel’s Next-Gen Arc Battlemage GPUs Set for December 2024 Launch

This postponement, or change from November to December is a bit curious Of course, it could be that Intel has been aiming for December all along or perhaps had to get the product right. The timing, however, positions Intel’s Battlemage GPUs ahead of NVIDIA and AMD’s upcoming next-gen GPUs, which are slated for a January 2025 launch. Essentially this gives Intel a chance to get its products out there first, and possibly get some marketing momentum.

Gawroński also noted that together with Battlemage, we are going to be getting a first glimpse of future Xe3 “Celestial” GPUs scheduled to accompany Intel’s Panther Lake mobile SoCs. Intel still has some solid GPU development happening — but instead of continuing work on discrete GPUs, the company is refocusing on integrated graphics for its SoCs, suggesting we could see Celestial handling mobile endpoints versus desktops.

These Battlemage GPUs will be manufactured on TSMC 4nm process and feature up to 32 Xe2 cores, 16 GB of memory, and a 256-bit bus. Of course, numerous GPU dies have already been leaked: BMG-G21, BMG-G10, and BMG-31 to give you some specifications of the powerful lineup.

However, the next weeks/months are about to be very exciting with AMD’s Battlemage GPUs launching in December and NVIDIA launching their “RTX 50” Blackwell followed by AMD’s “RDNA 4” (or a potential early-gen “UDNA 4”) in January of 2025, which should make the PC gaming/hardware scene pretty exciting.
