Intel shows its 8 core, 16 thread Tiger Lake-H processor in action

The Blue team recently demoed its upcoming Tiger Lake-H gaming processors based on their 10nm SuperFin transistors. Intel did end up showing the potential of their upcoming 8-core and 16-thread Tiger Lake-H flagship CPU that could go up to 5.0 GHz, and it is most probably the Intel Core i9-11980HK processor.

Obviously, this has to be Intel’s upcoming Core i9 flagship gaming processor, and they did not use any discrete GPU for the demo as Intel wants to promote their Xe-LP integrated graphics. The new Tiger Lake-H processors come with 20 PCIe Gen4 lanes to support the latest GPUs and storage devices.

Interestingly, AMD’s Ryzen 5000H series mobile processors codenamed Cezanne do not support this interface standard, which Intel could use as an advantage. However, AMD has its cost advantage as well.

Also, as we know, Intel can deliver better single-core performance, so naturally, games that are more CPU bound will perform better on Intel devices, but with Zen 3, AMD isn’t too far away. This Tiger Lake-H processor was demoed using the Total War game that is mostly CPU bound.

Roger Chandler also confirmed that the new Intel Tiger Lake-H processors will launch in the second quarter and it is also rumoured Intel might launch its own gaming laptop around Computex.
