Intel Xeon W7-2495X “Sapphire Rapids” workstation CPU proves to be 12% faster than AMDs Threadripper 5965WX CPU

The first Geekbench benchmarks of Intel’s Xeon W7-2495X “Sapphire Rapids” workstation CPU have also been leaked. The most recent benchmark shows the Intel W7-2495X CPU on a Lenovo Workstation. This chip will be part of the Xeon W-2400 family, which is aimed at more mainstream workstations.

The CPU has 24 Golden Cove cores with 48 threads, 45 MB of L3 cache, and 48 MB of L2 cache, as well as a clock speed of 2.5 GHz base and 4.8 GHz boost. The log file reveals that the chip never exceeded 4.1 GHz clocks, which is significantly lower than its final spec.

The Intel Xeon W7-2495X “Sapphire Rapids” workstation CPU scored 1497 points in single-core testing and 24,658 points in multi-core testing.

The chip is about 12% faster than the AMD Threadripper 5965WX, which also has 24 cores and 48 threads. Single-core scores for both of these chips are roughly the same, which is due to the fluctuating clock speeds of this particular sample, which was never able to hit its retail boost clocks. The CPU is also roughly comparable to a Core i9-13900K, which has far fewer threads (32 vs 48), and the 13900K destroys the 2495X in single-core tests.

However, there is currently no word on the power consumption of these parts, and rumors have indicated that the Sapphire Rapids Xeon workstation family will be extremely power-hungry.
