Intel Reveals Panther Lake-H & Panther Lake-U CPU Configurations

Intel details Panther Lake CPU configurations, up to five tiles in the first blueprint In 2025, Panther Lake CPUs will represent a major launch from Intel, providing the company with significant improvements in performance. These next-generation chips have achieved “Power On” status for Intel, and the production date before these 18A process nodes using wafers is scheduled to go live in the first half of 2025, and availability is planned for the second half of the same year.

More About the Intel Panther Lake-H & Panther Lake-U CPU

Some new information from @Jaykihn sheds some light on Panther Lake CPU configurations. Those CPUs will be available in laptop platforms across “high-end” as well as entry-level segments. The Panther Lake-H is the flagship lineup which will follow Arrow Lake H CPUs and offers performancer oriented laptop tailored configurations. On the other hand, the Panther Lake-U series is made for ultra-thin and light laptops that will replace Arrow Lake-U processors coming in 2025.

As for the Panther Lake-H family, the CPUs will be available with up to 4 P-Cores (based on Cougar Cove), as well as common Panther platform components of up to 8 E-Cores (from Darkmont) and further LP-E cores. The Celestial “Xe3” architecture for the integrated graphics will support configurations up to 12 Xe3 cores on top die and four more in the second one. These CPUs will offer a 25W PL1 TDP and a 45W PL2 rating.

By contrast, the Panther Lake-U series will range up to 8 cores with a total of 4 P-Cores and 4 LP-E Cores for thin-and-light laptops. The integrated graphics is made up of 4 Xe3 cores and features target TDP ratings of approximately 15W (PL1) and around 28-30 W (PL2). Also, details from the Panther Lake-H blueprints reveal a 5-tile chip design of which only three will be active: Compute (Die 4), Platform Controller Die (PCD, Die 1) and Graphics (Xe3, Die 5).

The remaining tiles (Die 2 and Die 3) help keep the chip a nice rectangular shape, not unlike other Intel architectures we’ve seen over time like Lunar Lake. We’re expecting Panther Lake to provide more scalability and capacity across the board, with Intel planning to share additional details at its Innovation event later this September.

FAQs

When will Intel’s Panther Lake CPUs be available for purchase?

Intel plans to enter production on the 18A process node in the first half of 2025, with availability expected in the second half of the same year.

What improvements do Panther Lake CPUs bring over their predecessors?

Panther Lake CPUs introduce enhancements such as increased core counts, improved integrated graphics with the Celestial “Xe3” architecture, and efficiency gains in power consumption, particularly in the 25W variants aimed at both high-performance and energy-efficient laptop markets.
