The 13th Generation Raptor Lake CPU family from Intel is outperforming AMD’s new Ryzen 7000 series processors in the Blender Benchmark, according to a report from Twitter user HXL. While the Core i5-13600K blows the Ryzen 7 7600X and Ryzen 7 7700X out of the water, Intel’s Core i7-13700K is competitive against the Ryzen 9 7900X.

For those who are unfamiliar, Blender is an open-source application for creating content that can perform a variety of functions, such as 3D rendering, video editing, modelling, animation VFX, and more. As a result, the software can be CPU and GPU intensive, which makes it a great benchmarking tool.

The Ryzen 9 7950X from AMD, a 16-core monster, sits at the top of the list with a score of 607.53 points.

The 24-core Core i9-13900K is placed below the Ryzen 9 7950X at 557.66 points. The Ryzen 9 7900X is next, scoring 462.39 points, followed by the Core i7-13700K (429.7 points), Core i5-13600K (358.18 points), Ryzen 7 7700X (305.51 points), and Ryzen 5 5600X (234.65 points).

It’s fascinating to see this Blender benchmark run since it demonstrates how powerful Raptor Lake, Intel’s current hybrid microarchitecture, can be. These figures alone show that Intel has reclaimed a sizable portion of the multi-core performance it lost to AMD in 2017 when Ryzen debuted.

The only two processors that can outperform Intel’s Raptor Lake CPUs in Blender’s demanding multi-core task are AMD’s Ryzen 9 components. The Ryzen 9 7950X outperforms the Core i9-13900K by 9%, and the Ryzen 9 7900X outperforms the Core i7-13700K by 7.6%.
