Intel DG1 desktop GPU spotted with Core i5-10400, posts RX 560-like score in OpenCL

Building on the foundation of the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics in 11th Gen Intel Core mobile processors and based on the same Xe-LP microarchitecture, Intel Iris Xe MAX is the company’s first Xe-based discrete graphics processing unit (GPU). It addresses an emerging need for content creation performance in thin-and-light laptops. (Credit: Intel Corporation)

Intel is set to enter the graphics card market this year with GPUs like DG1 and DG2, among them the DG1 desktop GPU is an entry-level offering with the same Intel Iris Xe graphics architecture.

The Intel Xe-LP DG1 GPU will be made by OEMs like ASUS and we have already seen leaks of it. It is said to sport 4GB VRAM and as spotted by @TUM_APISAK, the GPU scores 19246 points in the Geekbench OpenCL benchmark, making it comparable to an older RX 560 GPU.

The discrete GPU will only support two motherboards, and the Xe-LP DG1 GPU will have 80 EUs or 640 cores compared to the full 96 EUs or 768 cores that the chip has to offer. The card also comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory clocked in at 4266 MHz pin speeds. It also features a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 interface.

This GPU is the first entry of Intel into the GPU market, and it is not targeted towards gamers but for OEMs only. However, this will pave the way for the more exciting DG2 GPUs that will indeed be for gamers, and Xe HPG Gaming GPUs will be making their way by the end of 2021, as per rumors.
