Intel Core Ultra 5 135U ‘Meteor Lake’ Breaks Cover: Benchmarks and Unusual 12-Core Configuration

The Geekbench 6 database recently revealed the existence of the Intel Core Ultra 5 135U “Meteor Lake” CPU, distinguishing itself through an unconventional core configuration not shared by its counterpart, the Core Ultra 5 135H, or other “U” SKUs. This specific SKU stands out with its 12 cores and 14 threads, presenting a distinctive feature that piques curiosity.

More about the Leaked Intel Core Ultra 5 135U

To elaborate on its unique structure, the 12 cores are divided into 2 P-Cores (Redwood Cove), 8 E-Cores (Crestmonth), and 2 low-power E-Cores (Crestmont). This configuration marks a departure from the norm, introducing a combination not previously observed.

Additional specifications encompass 12 MB of L3 cache, with clock speeds ranging from 2.10 GHz at the base to 4.4 GHz at boost. Classified as a U-series chip, the expected thermal design power (TDP) falls between 9 and 15 W. Notably, this CPU was integrated into an upcoming laptop equipped with 32 GB of DDR5 memory.

In terms of performance, the Intel Core Ultra 5 135U “Meteor Lake” CPU demonstrated a benchmark score of 2174 points in single-core and 9396 points in multi-core tests within Geekbench 6. While these figures may not be groundbreaking, it could be attributed to suboptimal optimizations or the chip being an early sample. The performance outcomes are visually represented in the accompanying charts.

The Intel Core Ultra 5 135U is part of the 10 leaked Meteor Lake SKUs. With the expansion of the 1st Gen Core Ultra family, more details are anticipated to emerge in the forthcoming days. The official debut of the 1st Gen Core Ultra “Meteor Lake” lineup is slated for December 14th. Reports indicate that these chips will initially be available in limited quantities, with the higher-end Core Ultra 9 SKUs expected to hit the shelves in early 2024. As the launch date approaches, further insights into the capabilities and features of these processors are eagerly awaited.
