The Intel Core i7-14700K Raptor Lake Refresh Desktop CPU has also been clocked at up to 6.3 GHz. The most recent leak comes only hours after another 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh CPU, the Intel Core i5-14600K, was discovered.
In the instance of the Core i7-14700K, we’re looking at a setup with the CPU installed on the MSI MPG Z690 EDGE TI WIFI DDR4 motherboard. The BIOS version is “E7D31IMS.AD0”, which is the most recent update that supports the future chips. Because this is a DDR4 motherboard, it isn’t always the ideal way to go with these high-end processors.
The Intel Core i7-14700K CPU has an 8+12 core design with 20 cores and 28 threads.
This will be a fantastic upgrade over the current Core i7-13700K processor, which has an 8+8 core configuration and will provide an additional boost to multi-threaded performance thanks to the extra E-Cores. The CPU will include 33 MB of smart cache (up from 30 MB) with clock frequencies ranging from 3.4 GHz to 5.6 GHz with TBMT3. This is also a +200 MHz increase over the 13700K, and we may expect performance improvements of 5-10% from this SKU.
The chip was overclocked beyond its stock frequency, according to the photograph provided by @wxnod. The CPU is set to run at 6.3 GHz with a voltage of 1.390V. This is a high voltage and will necessitate some serious cooling. Because this is only the BIOS screen, it is unknown whether the overclock remained stable, although it would be fantastic if the chips could genuinely sustain such high clock speeds.
The Intel Core i7-14700K and the other three unlocked processors will be announced at the Innovation 2023 event next month, followed by the Non-K lineup. All CPUs will work with existing LGA 1700 motherboards, but you will need to upgrade your BIOS.
