The upcoming unlocked 8 core 11th Gen Core i7 CPU seems to be surfacing on all benchmark software and has made itself available on Geekbench listings; the Core i7-11700K has now surfaced on PassMark.
Based on the new Cypress Cove architecture, the upcoming 11th Gen CPUs seem to be a lot more promising even though it’s still based on the old 14nm process, however, limited to 8 core this time on the Core i9-11900K.
The CPU specs have been confirmed; the base frequency of the Core i7-11700K will be 3.60 GHz and boost clock speeds of 5.0 GHz. Also, Intel has increased the L3 cache to 16 MB. It scored 27,108 points in the CPU Mark test with 3,548 points in the single-thread test.
Although in multi-core tests, the CPU cannot overtake its last-gen flagship, the 10 core Core i9-10900K, or even a Ryzen 9 5900X, but indeed, it’s one of the fastest 8 core CPU out there. As we saw in the previous benchmarks, the single-core performance of the new 11th Gen desktop processors seems to be great.
The Core i7-11700K even has better single-core results than even the Core i9-10900K and is on par or even overtaken the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors. The new CPU is almost 14% faster than it’s predecessor Core i7-10700K in the single-threaded result and 33% faster in multi-threaded results.
Intel is expected to launch its new 11th Gen Rocket Lake-S desktop CPUs at the CES 2021 soon and bring some important features like PCI Gen4 and Intel Gen12 Xe graphics.
