Intel confirms its upcoming Arc GPUs will support AI-based super sampling, more details coming this week

Intel yesterday announced their new brand – Arc, which will be focussing on providing high-performance GPUs to customers, including gaming, server and productivity focussed as well. The first generation of high-performance GPUs, based on the Xe HPG microarchitecture, is code-named Alchemist (formerly known as DG2).

Intel Arc graphics products will be based on the Xe-HPG microarchitecture, a convergence of Intel’s Xe LP, HP and HPC microarchitecture. Interestingly, Alchemist, the first generation of Intel Arc products, will support two of the modern gaming features, including Hardware-based Ray Tracing and Artificial Intelligence-driven Super Sampling.

Not only this, but upcoming Intel Arc GPUs will also offer full support DirectX 12 Ultimate. According to Anton Kaplanyan, Intel’s VP of Graphics Research said that Intel had developed a novel supersampling technology that will deliver high-quality visuals at a lower cost.

So, Intel’s solution to GPU performance boost should have more in common with NVIDIA DLSS rather than the software-based upscaling we see in AMD FSR. So, these high-performance GPUs will have Feature Level 12_2 with all its features like mesh shading, ray tracing, VSR, sampler feedback.

Intel also provided a short graphics demo of the gameplay and showed both the video’s ray tracing and supersampling features.

More information is coming later this week
