Intel ARC Alchemist GPU A380 specifications published online

Intel ARC Alchemist GPU-based graphics cards are now taking shape, with the ARC A380 variant’s specifications published.

TUM APISAK exposed the specifications and naming nomenclature of Intel’s ARC Alchemist GPU-based graphics card series in a tweet. As previously reported, Intel’s ARC range would use the A*** series designation. The numbering method specifies each graphics card’s performance tier.

In terms of specs, the Intel ARC A380 graphics card will include an Alchemist (Xe-HPG DG2) GPU with 128 Execution Units or 1024 ALUs, housed within 8 Xe cores. The highest GPU SKU will have 512 Execution Units or 4096 ALUs and will be housed among 32 Xe cores. This exact DG2 SKU will include a lot of versions, but the 8 Xe core die will be the most important.

The GPU is manufactured on the TSMC 6nm manufacturing node and has extremely high clock rates of 2.45 GHz. It is unclear if this is the average boost or maximum frequency, but it is certainly close to the gaming frequencies of the AMD Navi 22 and Navi 23 GPUs.

In addition, the Intel ARC A380 graphics card will include 6 GB of GDDR6 memory. The bus interface is not specified, although it is most likely 96-bit, as revealed by a leak last month. Because this is most likely the desktop model, we may expect 16 Gbps pin speeds and up to 192 GB/s total bandwidth, while the laptop variants will have 14 Gbps pin speeds and 168 GB/s of bandwidth.

The A380 graphics card will have a TDP of 75W and will most likely not have any external power connectors, but Intel and its partners may try to cram in additional power in the card for faster speeds and greater performance.

While no performance figures are given, the Intel ARC A380 Alchemist graphics card is touted to be comparable to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER. Given that the card is still months away from release, several driver-side improvements must be completed before the GPUs are available for purchase. As a result, we should expect improved performance in the end.

The Intel ARC Alchemist GPUs will also have ray-tracing and the XSS feature set, which AMD and NVIDIA’s current entry-level cards (RX 5000 / GTX 16 Series) do not. There is no news on pricing, but based on the specifications, we should assume an MSRP of roughly $200-USD 250.
