New Zealand and Canada have launched a groundbreaking Indigenous co-production initiative at TIFF 2026. Backed by $500,000 from Screenrights, this pact empowers Māori and First Nations creators to retain IP ownership against global studio giants. By merging cross-hemisphere talent, these storytellers are reclaiming their narrative sovereignty. It is a bold, futuristic shift toward authentic cultural storytelling, bypassing traditional Hollywood dilution for good.
