India’s tour of Australia 2020-21: Everything you need to know

The IPL hangover is dialling down as the Indian fans are keeping their respective jerseys aside to reunite with that beautiful blue jersey!

The intense rivalry will present itself again as Team India will go down under to take on the mighty Australian team. Despite the majority of players coming straight off the IPL, the tour will be a full-fledged series of three ODIs, three T20s, and four test matches.

Today we’ll take a look at Team India’s entire tour of Australia – the schedule, the squads, and important updates. The series will begin on November 27 with the first ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Schedule

ODI SERIES

  1. 1st ODI – 27 November 2020 (Sydney Cricket Ground)
  2. 2nd ODI – 29 November 2020 (Sydney Cricket Ground)
  3. 3rd ODI – 2 December 2020 (Manuka Oval)

T20I SERIES

  1. 1st ODI – 4 December 2020 (Manuka Oval)
  2. 2nd ODI – 6 December 2020 (Sydney Cricket Ground)
  3. 3rd ODI – 8 December 2020 (Sydney Cricket Ground)

TEST SERIES

  1. 1st TEST – 17 – 21 December 2020 (Adelaide Oval)
  2. 2nd TEST – 26 – 30 December 2020 (Melbourne Cricket Ground)
  3. 3rd TEST – 7 – 11 January 2021 (Sydney Cricket Ground)
  4. 4TH TEST – 15 – 19 January 2021 (The Gabba, Brisbane)

ODI SQUAD

KL Rahul will be the vice-captain for Team India in the limited-overs format as the BCCI medical team will continue to work on the fitness of Rohit Sharma.

SQUAD – Virat Kohli (C), KL Rahul (VC), Mayank Agarwal, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Shami, Shubhman Gill, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson (WK), Shardul Thakur, and Kuldeep Yadav.

T20I SERIES

Varun Chakravarthy was selected for his maiden call-up for Team India, however, suffered an injury so T. Natarajan would replace him.

SQUAD – Virat Kohli (C), KL Rahul (VC), Mayank Agarwal, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson (WK), Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, and T. Natarajan.

TEST SERIES

Team India won’t have the services of Virat Kohli as he would be on paternity leave after the first test. Kohli will be replaced by Rohit Sharma. Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team for the next three matches.
