Rohit Sharma and Co. won their first T20I match against West Indies. Suryakumar Yadav and Iyer shined in the last as India were on a chase of 158 runs. The former scored 34 runs in just 18 balls and the latter scored 24 runs in 13 balls.

Match Highlights

Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 34(18) whereas Iyer had a figure of 24 runs in just 13 balls as India had a target of 158 runs to accomplish. West Indies had mustered 157/7 in 20 overs. India on the other hand had a good figure of 50 runs in 5 overs. Ishan Kishan had a slow start but it raced when Rohit Sharma came to the pitch, though their partnership ended on 64 runs as Roston Chase dismissed Rohit Sharma. After this, India lost three wickets of Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant very quickly.

Suryakumar Yadav played a major role in closing the game in the end. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar dismissed Brandon which proved to be a huge breakthrough. Kyle Mayers and Pooran’s stand surpassed 50 runs in 7 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal took Kyle Mayers wicket and thus dismissed the stand. At this point, West Indies reached 72/2. Soon the scorecard became 73/4 post 11 overs as Ravi Bishnoi bagged two wickets, Powell and Chase for 2 and 4 runs respectively. A few overs later, Deepak Chahar took Akeal Hosein’s wicket, on the other hand, Pooran surpassed half-century. He got dismissed by Harshal Patel on 61 and it helped the hosts to restrict the visitors to 157/7 in 20 overs.
