India will take on Qatar in the first match of the post-Sunil Chhetri era, in what is a massive game for the future of the national team. Igor Stimac must guide the team to a win against Qatar if they are to make it to Round 3 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.

The 0-0 draw against Kuwait at the Salt Lake Stadium was a huge blow, and India’s hopes of qualifying are now dependent on the Afghanistan vs Kuwait game ending in a draw, in case they share points with Qatar.
