The much-awaited T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin in June with the greatly anticipated India-Pakistan match to be played on June 9th at Eisenhower Park in New York.
The T20 World Cup organizers have witnessed a huge demand for tickets. Especially the India vs Pakistan match in New York with 200 times as many people seeking tickets as there are tickets available.

General Ticket Sales Open for T20 World Cup 2024
The US and the West Indies are co-hosting the T20 World Cup 2024. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Long Island although isn’t finished yet, can hold 34,000 people, tickets are sold out for the June 9 cricket match.
There’s another opportunity to obtain tickets during the general ticket sales for everybody who missed out on securing them through the public ballot for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in the United States and West Indies.
The remaining tickets will now be available for purchase to the general public, with just 100 days remaining until the tournament kicks off on June 1st and concludes on June 29th.
After the immense interest shown during the ballot phase, that began on February 1st, tickets for the event will go on general sale starting from February 22nd on the T20 World Cup website. Tickets for all matches will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.

The ICC received over 3 million ticket applications, during the ballot phase from more than 161 countries for the celebrated T20 cricket extravaganza. Remarkably tickets for nine T20 World Cup matches in the USA are unavailable currently, with the India versus Pakistan match on June 9th in New York being oversubscribed by over 200 times, states an ICC media release.
In addition, the semi-finals in Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago as well as the final in Barbados, were oversubscribed in the ballot. The two Super Eight matches in Barbados and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were oversubscribed as well. Tickets for all other fixtures in the West Indies are still available for purchase though.
Cricket’s Big Break: T20 World Cup Arrives in the USA
An international cricket tournament will be held in the United States for the first time. There will be 16 games in the US, including matches in South Florida, Lauderhill and near Dallas at Grand Prairie Stadium.
“We had amazing ticket interest. The ballot process showed there’s a really big demand,” T20 World Cup USA, Inc. chief executive Brett Jones told AFP.
“India-Pakistan is obviously a game that at every World Cup carries great interest. I think it’s really pleasing to see those two countries come to the USA,” he added.
India and Pakistan will attract large audiences from people of their countries living there because they will be playing all their group matches in the USA. The organizers want the Americans to be converted into cricket supporters but realized that many immigrants living in the USA like it and plan to cater to those fans.
“I think, number one, we want to celebrate those that are already fanatical lovers of cricket. They deserve to see the best players in the world come into their backyard and have that chance,” said Jones.
“So, number one, we want to make sure that happens and they get to feel like they’re close to a game they love. Number two, I think it’s about spiking curiosity in the game,” he said.
The Americans have always favoured baseball over cricket. But, Cricket will get a big platform in the US due to the format being T20. And now that Cricket is also part of the Los Angeles Olympics in four years the opportunities are in abundance.
