The second ODI between India and New Zealand gets washed out due to heavy rain in Hamilton. India could bat only 12.5 overs of the play. Suryakumar Yadav had scored 34 runs off 25 deliveries and Shubhman Gill was having a good inning mustering 45 off 42 balls. They had an unbroken partnership of 66 runs in 46 deliveries before rain interrupted the match. Before them, Shikhar Dhawan tried to score good runs but got dismissed by Matt Henry.
Shubman Gill smashed a six in the eighth over but Suryakumar could score only five runs in his first 11 deliveries Sooner, he picked up the pace at the last ball of Lockie Ferguson. Michael Bracewell came in the next over, and the 11th over was handed to Mitchell Santer. Yadav hit his first six in this over.
The fine drops had already started pouring by the end of three innings.
The match was suspended at 11:51 AM IST and got called off 45 minutes later. New Zealand has taken the 1-0 lead. Both sides got reduced to 29 overs each.
In the first ODI, India won over New Zealand by seven wickets. Latham scored an unbeaten 145 runs off 104 balls while Kane Williamson mustered an unbeaten 94 off 88 deliveries. Indian players like Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill registered half-centuries each. Lockie Ferguson had a three-wicket haul, and Tim Southee also bagged three wickets. Umran Malik debuted from India and scalped t20 wickets.
The third and final ODI will be taking place on Wednesday, November 30 in Christchurch at 7:00 AM IST.
