India vs England 5th Test: England rejoice as they beat India after record chase

In the fifth Test match that was postponed, England defeated India by seven wickets on Tuesday at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

After hitting objectives of 277, 299, and 296 in their previous three Test matches, the hosts arrived at Edgbaston. They accomplished their biggest successful chase in Test cricket on Tuesday, making it four in a straight.

In nearly ideal batting conditions, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow scored brilliant unbroken hundreds, rendering India’s renowned bowling attack completely clueless. Bairstow scored 114 unanswered points, while Root finished undefeated on 142.

The hosts were able to defeat a 378-run goal in the fourth innings thanks to an unbroken partnership of 269 runs between the pair for the fourth wicket. Their best chase in the final innings of a test match was this one.

A very flat batch of Dukes balls and generally flat playing surfaces have made this summer special. However, this run of daring catches ran up against two of the top fast-bowling teams in the world; both teams visited England last year and left with respective series victories of 1-0 and 2-1.

A stunning accomplishment for the new captain and coach, Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, even though their all-out attacking strategy will eventually face a more severe test when England plays in more bowling-friendly conditions.

After India’s second innings had ended with a score of 245 runs, England was given a goal of 378 runs to win the game. After winning the fifth Test, which was postponed, England and India split the five-match series 2-2.
