India and England had drawn 0-0 in the men’s hockey World Cup. Both teams failed to score despite the fact that they had plenty of opportunities. England had got eight penalty corners and India had four. However, India’s defence was top-notch in this game.
Both teams have four points each and they will be qualifying directly for the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals will be held on January 19. India will be facing Wales and England will be competing against the Spanish team. The matches will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar.

The Indian team led by Harmanpreet Singh got one step closer to the finale. Facing England in the Pool D match, they couldn’t score a single goal despite getting a lot of opportunities. England, just like India couldn’t make a single goal and the match ended in a draw. In the game, there were 11 PCs but none were converted. India couldn’t make use of penalty corners.
Both the teams got a single point each and now they have four points from the two games. England is however on the top due to the better goal difference. England’s player Oliver Payne in England’s goal and the Indian defence duo, Krishna Pathak and PR Sreejash did a spectacular job from their ends. India made basic trapping errors and spent time in watching the ball instead of meeting it.
Earlier, Spain defeated Wales 5-1 in the second game of Pool D and qualified for the quarterfinals. Time may be a little tough for India as Hardik Singh suffered from an injury in the game.
