India Vs England: First Test, Day 3

Rishabh Pant’s with 91 runs and Cheteshwar Pujara with 73 runs helped India to make a quick come back from 73 for 4 but couldn’t continue to hold it up as England reduced India to 257 for 6 with Dom Bess’ 4 wickets for 55 runs as at the end 257/6, and is still trailing by 321 runs in this match.

Rishabh Pant’s magnificent batting smashed five towering sixes in the space between long-on and deep mid-wicket against left-arm spinner Jack Leach. Still, it came to an end with his now customary incaution, putting India under pressure and criticized by the supremely confident England bagging victory at the end of the third day in the opening Test in Chennai on Sunday.

Washington Sundar with 33 runs of 68 balls, which essentially is a batsman, and was converted into specialist off-spinner, was trying to adapt and adjust for his poor performance with the ball along with Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored 8 runs of 54 balls, and also who is never tired of a great on-field scrap.

The Pant-Pujara Partnership worked extremely well because the senior player sent off those boundary balls during their 119-run stand in only over 24 overs. But Virat Kohli, who looked dejected at the end, wouldn’t mind if Pant had sent his shot into the stands.

Bess easily influenced as he got a spin ball that worked for him while sending Virat Kohli back, who scored 11 runs, who was caught at forward short leg.

Ajinkya Rahane was brilliantly caught by Joe Root for only 1 run when a full toss plunged on him at the final moment. Rohit Sharma went off with only 6 runs, and Shubman Gill with 29 runs off 28 balls, and both were dismissed by Jofra Archer (16-3-52-2).
