On the fourth day of the proceedings, rescheduled fifth Test match at Stumps, [England](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England_cricket_team) turned the series around which was in India’s favour after the end of day 3. An undefeated 150-run partnership between Joe Root (76 not out) and Jonny Bairstow (72 not out) held the British in the driving seat against India.

After the hosts were reduced to 109/3, Root and Bairstow initially stabilized the ship before capitalizing on it to utterly disadvantage India. At Stumps on Monday, England were 259/3 and needed 119 more to win.
