After England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bowl in the game, James Anderson and Matthew Potts held India in check by claiming three and two wickets, respectively.

Ravichandran Ashwin was passed over in favor of Jadeja to start the game. In contrast, Cheteshwar Pujara began the batting for India in Rohit Sharma’s absence, however he only managed 13 runs before losing out to James Anderson.

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, yet again struggled to find form as he could only manage 11 runs before being dismissed by Matty Potts. Jasprit Bumrah, who is prominent figure in the squad, captains team India after Rohit Sharma once again tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

England recently defeated New Zealand 3-0 by playing an aggressive style of cricket led by Ben Stokes, demonstrating their excellent form.
