India vs Brazil: Rumours are finally reality. The Brazilian Football Confederation and the All India Football Federation have jointly confirmed that five-time World Cup champions Brazil will face the Indian football team in a historic international friendly on October 3, 2026, at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) Stadium in Kolkata.

## A Date for the History Books

This fixture marks the highest-ranked opposition India have ever faced since FIFA’s World Ranking system began in 1992, with Brazil currently sitting fifth in the world. Given India’s status as home to one of the largest Brazilian football fan bases outside Brazil itself, the timing and location couldn’t be more fitting.

## A Packed Season Ahead

The Brazil clash sits in a busy stretch for the Blue Tigers, who compete in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 from September 21 to October 6, before this landmark friendly, followed by a New Zealand tour in November. It remains unclear whether India will field their senior squad for the SAFF Championship given the overlapping November window against New Zealand.

## Why It Matters

For a national team that’s had a difficult 2026, hosting Brazil offers a rare, morale-boosting opportunity in front of a passionate home crowd. Full fixture updates are available on the [official AIFF website](https://www.the-aiff.com/).
