India vs Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s newfound fast-bowling sensation, Nahid Rana, has quickly become the center of attention in the cricket world. The young speedster from Chapainawabganj, who regularly clocks speeds above 150 kmph, made a significant impact during the Test series against Pakistan and is eagerly anticipated for the upcoming series against India. However, Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach, Andre Adams, has urged fans and critics alike to be patient with Rana’s development.

Despite the growing buzz surrounding Rana, Adams is confident that the attention isn’t affecting the young bowler. “He [Rana] is pretty well-grounded. He’s not someone who gets carried away by accolades. From what I’ve seen, he’s focused on improving and always working to get better,”

Adams told Cricbuzz. He praised Rana’s work ethic, especially his commitment to improving his strength. “Young fast bowlers need to be strong, and he knows that. Rana works diligently in the gym, and since our trainer Nathan came on board, the whole group has gotten faster and fitter,” Adams added.

India vs Bangladesh

One of Rana’s key strengths, according to Adams, is his consistency in pace. “When you’ve got that speed and a bouncer, you need to use it when the moment calls for it. What’s exciting about Rana is that his pace doesn’t drop – he’s fast all the time, and that’s pretty cool to see,” Adams said. He acknowledged that Rana is still working on his accuracy, having only played three Test matches. “You can’t expect him to bowl like Glenn McGrath after just three Tests, but what we’re seeing is constant improvement, and that’s what matters.”

Hasan Mahmud’s Evolution as a Red-Ball Bowler

Adams is equally impressed with another rising star, Hasan Mahmud, who has transitioned from being seen as a white-ball specialist to showing promise in red-ball cricket. “Much of Hasan’s growth is thanks to the work he’s done with local coaches,” Adams remarked. He emphasized that Mahmud’s conversations during the World Cup showed his potential as a world-class bowler. “Transforming from a white-ball to a red-ball bowler requires dedication, and Hasan has that. He’s a very good athlete, smart, and committed to improving,” Adams noted.

Taskin Ahmed’s Return to Test Cricket

Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s premier fast bowler across all formats, made his return to Test cricket against Pakistan after a long hiatus due to health issues. Taskin struggled initially in the first innings but soon found his rhythm. Adams acknowledged that managing Taskin’s workload is essential, especially given his status as a key bowler for Bangladesh. “Not just Taskin, but all players need careful management when returning from injury. Taskin works hard in training, but it’s different when you’re out in the heat and bowling in game conditions,” Adams explained.

The first innings against Pakistan came as a bit of a surprise for Taskin, but Adams was quick to note that such experiences are necessary for growth. “The only way to get used to bowling under these conditions is by doing it,” he said, confident that Taskin will continue to improve as he gets more game time.

The Absence of Shoriful Islam

Bangladesh will miss the services of left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam in their upcoming two-match Test series against India, as he recovers from a groin injury sustained before the second Test against Pakistan. Shoriful, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation, is expected to be fit in time for the T20 series against India.

Adams expressed his disappointment at not having Shoriful available for the Test matches but is hopeful for his return soon. “Every team loves to have a left-arm pacer, and Shoriful has been great for us. He applied pressure and swung the ball beautifully in the first innings against Pakistan. He’s been working hard to get fit again, and we’re looking forward to having him back in the squad,” Adams stated.

Shoriful participated in a practice session on September 17, bowling a couple of overs in a match-scenario with players who might be part of the T20 squad for the India series. Adams is optimistic that the left-arm pacer will make a full recovery in time to contribute in the limited-overs format.

Conclusion

Bangladesh’s fast-bowling unit is undergoing a transformation, with young talents like Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud emerging alongside established names like Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam. Under the guidance of coach Andre Adams, these bowlers are learning how to manage their strengths and improve their game, making Bangladesh a formidable side in both red-ball and white-ball formats. While challenges like injuries and inexperience remain, the potential of Bangladesh’s pace attack is undeniable, and with the right development, they could be a major force in the cricketing world.
