Ajinkya Rahane and co. executed the first day of the boxing Test series in a staggering manner with some wonderous changes in the bowling and the batsmen giving their all in it.
After a shocking defeat in the first Test, Team India is again on their feet as they dominated the first day of the boxing day Test as they sent back Australia on a mere score of 195 as Jasprit Bumrah led the bowling lineup with R. Ashwin also taking crucial wickets and Mohd. Siraj making his Test debut.
Ashwin went on giving a huge blow to Australia an over later by removing their best batsman Steve Smith for a duck.
Ravindra Jadeja even did a fantabulous job to avoid a collision with Shubman Gill and hold on to a difficult catch to send Matthew Wade back when R. Ashwin tossed up a ball on Wade and he decided to get some runs, which resulted in the ball flying on the first day. This whole incident took place in the 13th over when Tim Paine opted to bat first at Melbourne on the first day of the Boxing Test.
Both Jadeja and Gill dived for the ball but the experienced and all-rounder Jadeja kept his calm and composure despite Gill charging and diving across him to hold on to a sharp catch.
Also, Jasprit Bumrah struck with the new ball like thunder to Australia. He got the outside edge of Joe Burns at 0 to ensure a less run chase.
Interestingly, Ashwin dismissed the Aussie Star, Steve Smith twice in the two Tests matches so far in the ongoing series against Australia and it’s the fifth time in total that Ashwin has dismissed Smith.
Ashwin and Bumrah were today clinical and proved to be the X-factor by restricting Australia on day 1 of the 2nd Test against Australia. Later on, during India’s batting Gill ensured that they make through with the help of Pujara, after Mayank Agarwal getting out at 0. Siraj, taking the place of Mohammed Shami, bowled with pace and movement, including a classic wicket of fellow Test rookie Cameron Green.
