India U20 finished their U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers with a 2-1 win against host country Kuwait at the Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Kuwait City.

The Blues lost their first two games against Iraq and Australia which ended their hopes of qualifying for the tournament. However, a win in their final outing sees them end their qualification campaign on a positive note.

Taison Singh, the captain for the day, gave his side the lead in the eighth minute. He skipped past his marker to launch a shot into the top corner and give his side the lead.

Having gone behind, Kuwait started to attack, and Jarah Alheleeli hit the crossbar from a free-kick as their closest attempt. However, they weren’t able to get on level terms just yet as India U20 went into the break a goal ahead.

Kuwait captain Saleh Almehtab was able to score the equaliser with a free kick, at the 70-minute mark. However, their lead would not last long with Gurkirat Singh scoring a free kick, thanks to a deflection. In the end, it proved to be enough for his side to earn all the points and cap off a very impressive campaign in Kuwait.
