BCCI Announces India Senior Women Central Contracts for 2022-23: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the Annual Player Contracts for the Indian senior women’s team for the 2022-23 season. The central contracts have been divided into three categories – A, B, and C.

Grade A (Rs 50 lakh):

Grade B (Rs 30 lakh):

  1. Renuka Thakur
  2. Jemimah Rodrigues
  3. Shafali Verma
  4. Richa Ghosh
  5. Rajeshwari Gayakwad

Grade C (Rs 10 lakh):

  1. Meghna Singh
  2. Devika Vaidya
  3. Sabbineni Meghana
  4. Anjali Sarvani
  5. Pooja Vastrakar
  6. Sneh Rana
  7. Radha Yadav
  8. Harleen Deol
  9. Yastika Bhatia

Notably, senior pacer Shikha Pandey and wicket-keeper Taniya Bhatia failed to secure a spot in the central contracts list. Poonam Yadav, who was part of Grade A last year, also did not find a place in any category this year.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket team, has been awarded a Grade A contract, along with Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma. The players in the top bracket have been reduced from five last year to three, with Rajeshwari Gayakwad dropping to Grade B and Poonam Yadav missing out on a central contract altogether.

Youngsters Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Shafali Verma have been promoted from Grade C to Grade B after their impressive performances in the 2022 Women’s World Cup and the 2023 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Renuka Thakur has been promoted straight to Grade B after a stellar season across all formats.

Many fresh faces have been rewarded with their maiden central contract in the Grade C category, which includes Meghna Singh, Devika Vaidya, Sabbineni Meghana, Anjali Sarvani, Radha Yadav, and Yastika Bhatia. Sneh Rana and Harleen Deol retain their place in Grade C while Pooja Vastrakar drops a grade.

BCCI Announces India Senior Women Central Contracts for 2022-23

It’s important to note that the contract period recently announced by the BCCI for the 2022-23 season runs from October to September. Overall, this year’s central contracts reflect the impressive performances by the Indian women’s cricket team in international cricket over the past year.
