India secure series win over South Africa ahead of T20 World Cup
Shikhar Dhawan put South Africa to bat, and the decision proved to be a rewarding one. Henricch Klassen scored a 42-ball 34, which was the only source of momentum for the visitors. Wickets started falling right from the second over, which restricted them to a barebones total in 27 overs.
Shubman Gill narrowly missed out on a half century, having scored 49 runs from 57 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer sealed the win with a six, taking their total to 105 for the loss of only three wickets.
With the win, the Blues have now matched Australia’s record for the most wins in a calendar year – across all formats. And with more games to come soon, they can set the record all for themselves in a matter of time.
India now turn their attention to the T20 World Cup in Australia, which starts in a matter of days.
