India’s PC market achieved 3.0% year-over-year growth in Q2 2025, shipping 3.5 million units and marking the eighth consecutive quarter of growth. The traditional PC market, including desktops, notebooks, and workstations, shows sustained momentum driven by enterprise demand and AI notebook adoption.

India PC Market Shows Eighth Consecutive Quarter Growth

Commercial PC shipments surged 9.5% YoY, powered by 21.2% YoY enterprise demand increase and 26.4% YoY growth in H1 2025. Meanwhile, consumer PCs declined 3.9% YoY due to inventory clearance and supply bottlenecks, though underlying demand remained strong across online and offline channels.

Top 5 PC Vendors Market Performance

HP Inc. maintained leadership with 30.8% market share, dominating both consumer and commercial segments. About 35% of sales came from commercial PCs, fueled by IT/ITES enterprise demand, though consumer shipments declined 16.8% YoY due to channel inventory adjustments.

Lenovo captured 20.3% market share with 9.8% YoY consumer notebook growth, led by gaming models and strong online sales. Commercial segment expanded 26.4% YoY through Windows refresh programs and growing SMB adoption.

Acer Group held 14.8% share with consumer growth driven by budget-friendly PCs and wider offline reach, though commercial segment fell 11.8% YoY due to slower government orders.

AI and Gaming Drive Innovation

AI notebooks experienced remarkable 145.2% YoY growth in H1 2025, with basic AI notebooks comprising 88.1% of all AI shipments. This surge reflects growing enterprise and consumer interest in AI-powered computing capabilities.

Premium notebooks over $1,000 declined 6.9% YoY as vendors prioritized budget-friendly models, indicating market preference for value-oriented solutions during economic uncertainty.

Market Outlook and Growth Drivers

Navkendar Singh, IDC India Associate VP, highlighted that Windows refresh cycles have gained momentum and will continue driving enterprise demand. Government projects like ELCOT, rising gaming and AI PC interest, plus upcoming festive promotions will boost procurement.

Bharath Shenoy noted vendors maintained lean stock from July to accommodate fresh inventory for Independence Day and major festive season from late September, supporting Indian PC market recovery.

IDC projects upbeat market sentiment and upcoming promotions for gaming and AI PCs will drive robust consumer growth in H2 2025.
