With the match set to begin on Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Raina recommends India opt for three spinners and two fast bowlers, capitalizing on the spin-friendly conditions of the Chennai pitch, known for its black soil composition.

Raina has proposed selecting Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav as the spin trio, supported by fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. According to Raina, this combination would be ideal given the conditions.

“I believe India should go with five bowling options: three spinners and two pacers. Mohammad Siraj has been outstanding in red-ball cricket, and we all know how valuable Jasprit Bumrah has been for Indian cricket over the years,” Raina told IANS during a press conference.

He further emphasized the deadly partnership of Ashwin and Jadeja on Indian pitches, particularly in Chennai’s humid, windy conditions. “With the black soil and the conditions at Chennai, Ashwin and Jadeja will be tough for any opponent to handle,” Raina added. His strategy reflects a belief that the conditions are perfect for India’s spin bowlers to dominate the match.
