India left Australia behind to register the most victories in a calendar year. The men in blue won a total of 39 matches in 2022, having 24 in T20Is. India had earlier equaled Steve Waugh-led Australia’s record that was set in 2003 with the victory over South Africa. On Sunday Rohit Sharma led the team to defeat Pakistan by 4 wickets. Virat Kohli scored 82 runs which set the path for their win.

India had started the year with five defeats in a row to South Africa under Rohit Sharma. Further, India had won two Tests, 12 ODIs, and 24 T20Is since January 2022. In 2003, Steve Waugh led Australia had registered 30 wins out of 38 ODIs that included the 2003 World Cup and 8 Tests.
