India have been ranked 100 in the latest FIFA rankings released for June 2023. The Blue Tigers have been in remarkable form in 2023, and have become the 18th best ranked nation in Asia.

They will be in the second pot of seedings for the World Cup qualifiers from Asia, and are slowly working their way higher up the table. An official confirmation from AFC regarding the matter, but considering the points of the national team, their seeding position can be predicted.

This year, the Blues have had a very impressive run. They most recently won the Intercontinental Cup held in Odisha without conceding a single goal throughout the tournament. They defeated Lebanon in the finals to win the trophy, and are now in the semi finals of the SAFF Championship as well.

Igor Stimac’s men drew with Kuwait, in a match that they were on their way to winning. However, a late own goal from Anwar Ali broke their clean sheet record and restricted India to a second placed finish in the group stage.

If they can defeat Lebanon in the semi-final of the SAFF Championship, they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Bangladesh and Lebanon. For the time being, the Blue Tigers remain one of the favourites to add the SAFF Championship to their tally of trophies in recent history.
