Sportstechx has recently published a report on the leading Asian countries in terms of SportsTech nation. India has come out on top and China in third.

India might be a cricket-first nation when it comes to sports but it is also clearly Asia’s No. 1 SportsTech nation when it comes to the number of startups, with more than 3x the amount than any other country.

Nearly 40% of India’s startups, however, are focussed on just two sub-sub sectors: Fantasy sports and Booking and Matchmaking so it could just be a case of quantity over quality for now.

Among the Indian cities, Bangalore, the startup capital of India, emerged as the top SportsTech city for startups but only by a slim margin. India in fact accounts for 4 of the top 10, including 3 of the top 5 indicating that growth within the country is also fairly widespread.
