India cruised to a 9-0 win over Maldives in the SAFF Women’s Championship in Nepal, recording the highest margin of victory in the competition. The win saw the Blue Tigresses seal their place in the semifinals of the competition, with six points earned from two games already.
In their opening fixture, the team beat Pakistan by a 3-0 scoreline to get off to a great start. And by the looks of things, the five-time champions are set to make it six in a row with their dominant performances.

Anju Tamang scored four goals, helping the team to the massive scoreline. Dangmei Grace scored a brace, while Priyangka Devi, Soumya Guguloth, and Kashmina Rai netted one each to help the team earn a comfortable win.
“It surely is an amazing feeling to score four goals in an international match for the first time. I am happier as it paved the victory for my country. But as I said, it’s a team game, and it’s for all of us,” Tamang stated.
India will be playing their last group stage game against Bangladesh on September 13. However, they have already earned passage into the last four and the result will not matter for the defending champions.
