India have started planning for infrastructure to host the 2036 Olympics, with the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave plans now revealed in detail. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi cricket stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies if the IOC accepts India’s bid to host the Games.
Moreover, the plan for the government is to host the entire event in Ahmedabad, with the development of an Olympic-standard 53,000 seating football stadium, a 15,000 capacity tennis centre and three arenas for basketball, gymnastics and handball.
India’s master plan to host 2036 Olympics now revealed
The enclave will cover an area of 93 lakh square feet / 236 acres and will offer stadiums for various sports. The predicted budget is ₹31 crore to develop the entire area next to the cricket stadium in Motera.
The master plan for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave revealed the state government’s ambition to host several sporting events such as the World Aquatics Championships, World Athletics Championships, Asian Youth Games, Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games which also fall under the wing of the Olympics in the coming years.
Should the development of the sports complex be sanctioned if India wins the bid, the plan is to host the entirety of the 2036 Olympics within Ahmedabad.
