In the third ODI between India Women and Australia Women’s team, the former lost the game by 21 runs. The visitors took lead by 2-1. India was chasing a target of 173 and could reach only 151/7 in 20 overs. Shafali Verma smashed 52 runs off 41 deliveries. Darcie Brown and Ashleigh Gardner were in their best forms and scalped two wickets each. From India, Renuka Singh, Anjali Sarvani, Deepti Sharma, and Devika Vaidya picked two wickets each.

Ellyse Perry and Grace Harris played their top knocks followed by two-wicket hauls from Darcie Brown and Ashleigh Gardner that helped Australia to win by 21 runs. The match was held at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday. India sent Australia to bat first and the visitors lost some early wickets. Perry scored 75 runs off 47 deliveries and Grace harris smashed 41 off 18 deliveries. While the women in green were chasing 173, they had a horrendous start, but Shafali Verma’s 52-run knocks kept the hopes alive. Soon, she got dismissed by Nicola Carey. For Australia, Brown and Gardner picked two wickets while Carey and Megan Schutt picket one wicket each that restricting India to 151/7. With this victory, Australia took the lead of 2-1 over India in the five-match T20I series. Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh failed to perform effectively, scoring only one run each, which added to India’s anguish in the final few overs. With her 140th appearance, captain Harmanpreet broke the record for most WT20I appearances. She attempted to slog-sweep a full ball from Megan Schutt outside off but was caught by Sutherland at long-on. Despite the fact that Deepti smashed three fours in the last over, it put an end to India’s chances. India needed 27 runs in the final six balls, but despite Deepti being present, they couldn’t win.
