India stormed to an emphatic seven-wicket victory, chasing down a modest target of 133 with a stunning 43 balls to spare , their fastest win against England in the format’s history. It was a masterclass of power hitting and tactical brilliance, with Abhishek Sharma leading the charge in style. > 𝗔 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀! 💪 💪[#TeamIndia](https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamIndia?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) off to a flying start in the T20I series, sealing a 7⃣-wicket win! 👏 👏 > > Follow The Match ▶️ [https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs](https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs)[#INDvENG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/INDvENG?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [@IDFCFIRSTBank](https://twitter.com/IDFCFIRSTBank?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/hoUcLWCEIP](https://t.co/hoUcLWCEIP) > > — BCCI (@BCCI) [January 22, 2025](https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1882105003919487167?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) ## ***I****ndia vs England 1st T20I: Abhishek Sharma’s Fiery Knock Powers Record Win for India* ### **Abhishek Sharma’s Carnage: A Knock to Remember** The star of the show was [Abhishek Sharma](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abhishek_Sharma_(cricketer,_born_2000)), who unleashed a breathtaking 79 off just 34 balls. His blistering innings included six towering sixes and five fours, leaving the England bowlers clueless. Abhishek reached his half-century in just 20 balls, sending shockwaves through the England camp and lighting up the Eden Gardens. The fireworks began early in the innings despite a wobbly start. India lost Sanju Samson (23 off 12) and Suryakumar Yadav (0) in quick succession to Jofra Archer’s brilliance. Archer was England’s lone warrior with the ball, bagging two crucial wickets and keeping the Indian batters on their toes during his fiery spell. > Abhishek Sharma weaving magic and how! 🪄 > > Follow The Match ▶️ [https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs](https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs) [#TeamIndia](https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamIndia?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [#INDvENG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/INDvENG?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [@IamAbhiSharma4](https://twitter.com/IamAbhiSharma4?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [@IDFCFIRSTBank](https://twitter.com/IDFCFIRSTBank?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/5xhtG6IN1F](https://t.co/5xhtG6IN1F) > > — BCCI (@BCCI) [January 22, 2025](https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1882101399393276394?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) But Abhishek, undeterred by the early setbacks, turned the tide single handedly. His audacious strokeplay, particularly against Adil Rashid and Gus Atkinson, left the crowd in awe. By the time he departed, caught at long-off, India were just eight runs away from victory, sealing the game comfortably in the 13th over. ### **England’s Struggles with the Bat** Earlier in the match, England’s batting lineup faltered against India’s potent bowling attack. Despite a valiant 68 off 44 balls by skipper Jos Buttler, the visitors were bundled out for a paltry 132. Buttler was the only batter to show resistance, with the rest of the lineup crumbling under pressure. Arshdeep Singh gave India a dream start, dismissing Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in his first two overs. His figures of 2/17 not only broke the back of England’s top order but also made him India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in T20Is, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal. > 𝘼 𝙎𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙁𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙮 😎 > > Abhishek Sharma starts the [#INDvENG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/INDvENG?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) T20I series on the right note 👍 > > Follow The Match ▶️ [https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs](https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs)[#TeamIndia](https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamIndia?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [#INDvENG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/INDvENG?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [@IDFCFIRSTBank](https://twitter.com/IDFCFIRSTBank?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/U7Mkaamnfv](https://t.co/U7Mkaamnfv) > > — BCCI (@BCCI) [January 22, 2025](https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1882098951484232101?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) Varun Chakravarthy was the standout bowler, finishing with 3/23. His guile and control wreaked havoc in the middle overs, as he dismissed Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, and even the well set Buttler to dismantle England’s batting. Axar Patel chipped in with two wickets, ensuring England never found momentum. ### IND vs ENG 1st T20I: **India’s Strategic Brilliance** India’s decision to bowl first paid dividends. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s tactical rotations ensured England’s batters were constantly under pressure. While Hardik Pandya had an off day with the ball, conceding 42 runs in his four overs, the rest of the attack more than made up for it. Notably, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami was rested, with India opting for a mix of youth and spin. The move worked wonders as the spinners exploited the conditions perfectly, leaving England reeling. > Powerplay ✅ > > Power packed start from [#TeamIndia](https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamIndia?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) 💥 > > They reach 63/2 after 6 overs > > Follow The Match ▶️ [https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs](https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs)[#INDvENG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/INDvENG?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [@IDFCFIRSTBank](https://twitter.com/IDFCFIRSTBank?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/EkB6gfikj6](https://t.co/EkB6gfikj6) > > — BCCI (@BCCI) [January 22, 2025](https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1882094765556326557?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) ### IND vs ENG 1st T20I: **The Road Ahead** This commanding victory gives India a 1–0 lead in the five-match series and highlights their dominance in the T20 format since their World Cup triumph in 2024. The combination of young talent like Abhishek Sharma and experienced bowlers like Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh has bolstered the team’s confidence. For England, the loss raises questions about their middle-order fragility and over-reliance on Buttler. With four matches to go, they’ll need to regroup quickly and address their weaknesses if they hope to bounce back. > Varun Chakaravarthy scalped 3⃣ wickets & bagged the Player of the Match Award! 👌 👌 > > Scorecard ▶️ [https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs](https://t.co/4jwTIC5zzs)[#TeamIndia](https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamIndia?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [#INDvENG](https://twitter.com/hashtag/INDvENG?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) | [@IDFCFIRSTBank](https://twitter.com/IDFCFIRSTBank?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/QqqC6Sz1e1](https://t.co/QqqC6Sz1e1) > > — BCCI (@BCCI) [January 22, 2025](https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1882110944572285054?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) ### **Key Highlights: IND vs ENG 1st T20I** - **Abhishek Sharma’s Fireworks:** 79 off 34 balls, including six sixes. - **Jos Buttler’s Lone Fight:** 68 off 44 balls, but no support from the other end. - **Spin Magic:** Varun Chakravarthy (3/23) and Axar Patel (2/17) stifled England. - **Arshdeep’s Milestone:** Became India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is. - **Record-Breaking Chase:** India chased 133 with 43 balls to spare, their biggest win against England by balls remaining.
