IND vs BAN: Ravichandran Ashwin Makes History as First Bowler to Achieve This Milestone in WTC

IND vs BAN: Indian spin maestro Ravichandran Ashwin etched his name in the history books on September 30, becoming the first-ever bowler to claim 50 wickets in all three editions of the World Test Championship (WTC). The Tamil Nadu-born spinner, currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC Test Bowler’s Rankings, achieved this feat during the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur.

Ashwin secured his place in cricketing glory by dismissing Shakib Al Hasan for nine runs, marking his 50th wicket in the ongoing 2023-25 WTC cycle. This achievement adds to his already impressive record of 71 wickets in the 2019-21 WTC edition and 61 wickets in the 2021-23 cycle, bringing his total WTC wicket count to 182 across 37 matches.
