After his appearance in Athletic Bilbao’s 0-0 draw with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid yesterday, Inaki Williams now has 200 consecutive appearances in La Liga for the club in his career.
The centre-forward has been with Bilbao since the youth level, and was promoted to the first team in 2014. Since then, he has risen to become an integral part of the first team and his record surely shows how vital he is.
Williams signed his last contract extension with Bilbao in 2019, and the agreement was to stay at the club until 2028, a nine-year renewal between the player and the club. In 239 total games in La Liga for Bilbao, the striker has scored 48 goals and provided 33 assists.
He is currently 27, and is in the peak physical years of his career. This season, Williams has scored two goals from five appearances in the league for the team. He is also a former Spain international, having made a solitary appearance for the national team in 2016, and hasn’t earned a single cap since then.
Throughout his tenure with the Spanish side, he has won two trophies, the Spanish Super Cup on two occasions. The first was in 2015/16, and the second was in the previous season, by defeating Barcelona in the finals of the competition.
Williams will be in line to make his 201st consecutive appearance for Bilbao next week when they host Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
