Ilkay Gundogan could be set for a return to Manchester City as he is set to leave Barcelona this month. The former Germany international arrived in Spain just last summer after seeing out his contract with the Sky Blues.
Now, in spite of having one year left on his contract, he could be on his way back to Manchester City, where he spent seven years and won the treble with them in his final season with them.

The Premier League champions have started negotiations with Barcelona over a return for the 33-year-old. Although Gundogan was a key part of the club’s midfield under Xavi Hernandez this past season, it seems that he isn’t as important in Hansi Flick’s plans.
The midfielder also has offers from Saudi Arabia for a potential move. However, Pep Guardiola and his team would be open to having Gundogan in their squad once again.
A deal hasn’t been agreed as things stand, but, it would be a big boost for the club heading into the new season if they manage to get one of their stalwarts back for another season.
