Sheffield United’s Iliman Ndiaye was the hero of their FA Cup run this season, producing a stunning solo effort to knock Tottenham out of the competition. And in the process, punching their ticket to the quarter finals.
The Blades will be hosting fellow Championship club Blackburn Rovers at Bramall Lane in the last eight. United are prioritising a return to the Premier League at the end of the season, and are currently second in the table with Blackburn in fourth place.
Iliman Ndiaye experiencing breakout season with Sheffield United
The Senegal international played in the 2022 World Cup, only to get knocked out by England. And following his display in Qatar, there were a number of clubs interested in signing him during the January transfer window.
He decided to continue with Sheffield United until the end of the season, and has scored 11 goals while providing eight assists across all competitions.
With the quality of performances that he is putting in, it seems likely that Iliman Ndiaye will be playing in the Premier League next season. Whether it will be with Sheffield United, if they get promoted, or another club, is what remains to be seen.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2024, and Sheffield United will have to sell him to avoid losing him on a free next year. That is, of course, if they don’t agree a new contract with him to continue together for the future.
