### The True Story Behind the Title

The name *Ikkis* means “twenty-one,” the age at which Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal died in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry honour, and remains one of its youngest recipients. You can read more about his life on [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arun_Khetarpal).

Raghavan doesn’t treat this as a loud, flag-waving spectacle. He has described it as a human story, almost a coming-of-age drama set against a war. That choice gives the film its quiet emotional pull.

### Cast and Performances

- **Agastya Nanda** plays Arun Khetarpal. This is a demanding debut role, and early reactions praised how well he carried it.
- **Dharmendra** plays Arun’s father. Knowing this is among his final screen appearances makes every scene hit harder.
- **Jaideep Ahlawat** has an important supporting role and adds his usual intensity.
- **Sikandar Kher and Suhasini Mulay** round out the supporting cast, and reviewers singled out Deepak Dobriyal as a pleasant surprise.

### Is It Worth Watching?

Audience response has been largely warm. The main criticism is that a few visual effects shots could have been more polished. If you like grounded, emotional war dramas more than action-heavy ones, this should work for you.
