Sharing two intriguing posters, the actor-director emphasized staying “connected to your roots” in the film’s caption. This marks Dhanush’s fourth directorial project, following his previous successes.

Idly Kadai First Look
On January 1, the producers announced that the much-anticipated first look of Idly Kadai would be unveiled by evening. Earlier teasers hinted that the film would be a rural drama, with the first poster showcasing a small tiffin shack. On Wednesday evening, Dhanush revealed two posters offering a glimpse of his character.
The first poster features Dhanush in a traditional white outfit, holding groceries in one hand and steel dabbas in the other, standing at the entrance of a modest shack. The second poster presents a younger version of the protagonist, clean-shaven and dressed in a shirt and trousers, standing beside another man dressed in attire similar to Dhanush’s look in the first poster. These visuals hint at a storyline spanning two distinct periods in the protagonist’s life.
Fans were ecstatic about the reveal, with one admirer commenting, “This vibe uhh.” Another wrote, “Rural entertainer loading.” A fan even dissected the posters, noting, “Anyone noticed… Kiran sir in the second picture? The dress, dhoti, shirt with a towel, thinker on the forehead, sandals—all match the first poster’s look.”
Idly Kadai Release Date Announced
Dhanush took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an exciting update about Idly Kadai, posting, “#IdlyKadai release announcement.” The accompanying poster features Dhanush walking toward a small shack named “Sivanesan Idli Kadai,” with his back turned to the camera. The backdrop of blue skies dotted with birds and a village-like setting highlights the rural theme of the film. The poster also confirmed that the movie is set to hit theaters on April 10, 2025.

Upcoming Projects
Dhanush was last seen in Raayan (2024), a film he also directed. Before that, he helmed Pa Paandi in 2017. In addition to Idly Kadai, he is currently directing Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Dhanush will also star in Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera, sharing the screen with Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna, and Jim Sarbh.
