The iPhone 15 series introduces several new impressive camera features, such as the ability to capture 24MP super high-resolution photos, shoot ProRes video at 4K60, and create spatial videos, among others. However, the storage capacity of the new iPhones remains limited to 1TB. To address this limitation, Apple has introduced two additional iCloud storage tiers, allowing users to store their photos and videos in the cloud before running out of device storage.
All You Need to Know about New iCloud Storage Options
Effective September 18, iCloud accounts will offer two larger storage options of 6TB and 12TB, enabling users to store more personal photos, videos, documents, and data. In the United States, the 6TB iCloud+ plan will be priced at $29.99 (approximately ₹2,480), while the 12TB plan will cost twice as much, at $59.99 (about ₹4,970) per month. Pricing details for these new tiers in India are yet to be announced.
Subscribers can share this additional storage with up to six people through Family Sharing. Furthermore, these new storage tiers include additional iCloud+ features like iCloud Private Relay, HomeKit Secure Video, and more. It remains uncertain whether users can combine their Apple One subscription with these new tiers to access extra storage.
Currently, in India, iCloud+ offers three tiers – 50GB, 200GB, and 2TB – priced at ₹75, ₹219, and ₹749, respectively. This allows users to store and share various types of data, including photos, files, emails, passwords, notes, messages, contacts, calendars, and reminders. Additionally, users can sync Safari bookmarks and Stocks watchlists across all their devices and on iCloud.com. iCloud Backup automatically keeps settings and third-party app data up to date. Apple also provides privacy-focused features like Private Relay, Hide My Email for generating unique email addresses, a custom email domain with iCloud Mail, and HomeKit Secure Video for securely storing and viewing security camera footage from anywhere.
